Why should my company take part in this programme?
Of what value is it to me?

By undergoing an audit of your company’s eSCM capabilities your people will be exposed to worldwide best practice in eSCM. They will gain an understanding of the gaps that exist between your company’s current capabilities and best practice.
You will also be able to benchmark your company against others and form an opinion as to how you are doing vs competitors as well as trading partners.
The workshop which follows the audit will help you decide which is the best way forward for your company. It will help you understand the kinds of actions you will need to take to improve your eSCM capabilities as compared with the likely benefits.
Companies who achieve the required standard will gain the prestige of being able to display the Singapore eSCM symbol.

How much time and effort is required to undergo an audit?

The audit process has been designed to require as little time as possible.
It should take a cross-functional team approximately two days to complete the self-assessment.
You will need to collect a few KPIs. The time taken to do this will vary depending on the data that your company keeps and has readily available.
The audit process itself takes two days. The auditors will follow each process through your business. The process owner or his/her representative will be required to be present at this time, but since we will only tackle one process at a time the entire cross functional team does not have to be available for the whole of the two day period.
Following the audit, the auditor will conduct a half day workshop with your management team to report the findings and to discuss the implications for your business.

How much does it cost to undertake the audit?

The basic fee for the audit is S$7,000 + GST, payable to the Singapore Manufacturers' Federation.
There is a S$2,500 rebate available from the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) for the first 100 Singapore based companies to be successfully awarded an eSCM certificate from the eSCM Council. This offer expires on 31 October, 2005.

How is the confidentiality of my data protected?

Your individual scores and KPI values are confidential to you. They will not be disclosed to any other body except for the auditor. The auditor has also undertaken not to share the information with anyone else.
You will be able to retrieve your own information from the database on www.escm.org.sg only by using your unique user name and password. It is therefore important that you keep your user ID secure.
Your data will be entered into the benchmarking database. Once you data has been audited you will be able to create your own benchmark reports. You can choose the profile of the peer group against which you want to be benchmarked and you will be provided with the minimum, average and maximum scores and KPI values in that peer group provided that there are at least 5 scores. You will not, however, be able to see the identities of the companies in your chosen peer group.
In this way, the confidentiality of participants in this programme is protected.

How do I gain access to the benchmarking database?

You will only be given access to the benchmarking database once you have completed an on-line self assessment and had it audited by the eSCM auditors.
Following the audit, the auditors will update your scores and KPIs and will change the status of your submission to “Audited”. Once this happens, you will be able to generate your own benchmark reports.

My company only has a small operation in Singapore,
can my overseas business units participate in the programme?

The programme has been designed primarily for Singapore based companies. However, we recognise that the Singapore operations may only be a small part of a complex global supply chain.
We can ring fence the Singapore operation and look at the processes carried out in Singapore, considering the operations outside Singapore to be internal and external suppliers and customers.
We can also audit a company’s business unit(s) outside Singapore, but we would need to charge for the auditors’ travelling expenses. All certificates come from the Singapore eSCM Council even if the entity audited is outside Singapore. The IDA rebate is only available to Singapore based entities.

What is the scoring system and what level do I have to reach
to be awarded a certificate?

The scoring system is explained in the section “Scoring and certification”.
Any company who achieves a score of at least 133 in at least one Level 1 SCOR process (Plan, Source, Make, Deliver and Return) will be eligible for the eSCM certificate.
If a company fails to reach 133 in any SCOR Level 1 process, it will still receive a detailed scorecard and report, but will not be eligible for a certificate and will not be eligible for the IDA rebate.

Can I get a printed copy of the assessment questions and KPI definitions?
Can I get the questions on a spreadsheet so that I can complete them off line?

The questionnaire and KPI definitions are included in a Technical Reference document published in Singapore by SPRING.
Copies of this document together with a spreadsheet version may be purchased from the Singapore Manufacturers' Federation. Please contact the eSCM Secretariat at the SMa Federation (Contact details in the “Further Information” section)

How long is the certificate valid for?
How long may I display the eSCM logo after certification?

The certificate is valid for two years. If you wish to display the eSCM logo after that period, you will need to go through a new audit.

If I make improvements in specific areas, can I be re-audited?

Yes, you can be re-audited at a reduced fee by just focusing on the improvement areas, so long as the re-audit is within 6 months of the original audit.
If you wish to apply for a re-audit, please approach the Singapore Manufacturers' Federation directly for a quotation. (See the Further Information section)

Once my scores and KPIs have been audited,
can I edit them to indicate my improvements?

No. Only the auditor can change audited scores and KPIs. To get your scores or KPIs updated, please approach the SMa for a re-audit or submit a new self-assessment and apply for an audit in the normal way.

What happens next? Is auditing the final step?

Not at all. The audit is just the first step on the journey towards a fully e-enabled supply chain.
The eSCM Council is in the process of identifying resources for companies to call upon to help them improve their supply chains and their eSCM capability. Please contact the secretariat at the Singapore Manufacturers' Federation for the latest information. (See Further Information section)
